Episode 31 - Summertime gardening in the heat, OSU-OKC flower trials, featured guest Nicole Pittman from A New Leaf, and news from the OSU-OKC Farmers Market
Today we start off with our garden roundup with Denise and Jamie on gardening in the heat, plus a bit of a preview of our All America Selection flower trials, which will be showcased in a flower festival on our OSU-OKC campus June 24.
Our featured guest is Nicole Pittman, the horticulture manager for A New Leaf in Broken Arrow. A New Leaf is a non-profit that serves the developmentally disabled community with horticulture therapy, vocational training and jobs in the horticulture industry. Their services that they provide to the public are nursery grown plants from their greenhouses, floral arrangements made on site, and vegetables grown on their Blooming Acres farm area. If you haven't heard of A New Leaf, you need to hear more! They are an absolute gem in the horticulture community and provide a wonderful service to an underserved community. You can check them out at www.anewleaf.org
Cody joins us for the OSU-OKC Farmers Market update. As we get further into the growing season, more and more fruits and veggies are coming into the market. Wednesday market will be added soon. Listen in for updates from Cody.
